Bellarmine's Office of Financial Aid often receives notices about outside scholarships from organizations, businesses and groups. These awards support students with special interests or characteristics such as a specific field of study or occupation/career, church affiliation, or special skills and talents. Students must meet the sponsor's criteria in order to receive a private scholarship. The criteria may or may not include having demonstrated financial need. AACN/NCLEX-RN Scholarship
Hurst Review Services, a leading NCLEX-RN review course provider, is partnering with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) to launch a new scholarship program for students in entry-level baccalaureate nursing programs.
REQUIREMENTS: Students enrolled in a School of Nursing are eligible for this scholarship.

Air Force ROTC Scholarship
Air Force ROTC offers three and four year scholarships (some including stipends) on a competitive basis to high school seniors, current college students, and cadets enrolled in the program. High School students apply before December 1 of your senior year. Cadets currently enrolled apply 2nd semester of their freshman year and 1st semester of their Sophomore year. Segal AmeriCorps Education Award
After successfully completing your AmeriCorps term of service and enrolling in the National Service Trust, you are eligible to receive the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award. You can use the award to repay qualified student loans and to pay current educational expenses at eligible institutions of higher education and training programs.

Army ROTC
Whether you’re a college-bound high school student or already attending a college or university, Army ROTC has scholarships available. Scholarships are awarded based on a student’s merit and grades, not financial need.
AWARD AMOUNT: Army ROTC scholarships are valuable in many ways: Two-, three-, and four-year scholarship options based on the time remaining to complete your degree; full-tuition scholarships; and additional allowances pay for books and fees. Army ROTC scholarships also provide monthly living allowances for each school year. You can earn certain amounts depending on your level in the Army ROTC curriculum.

BigSun Scholarship

F. Edward Hebert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program
The F. Edward Hebert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program provides scholarships and/or financial aid for dental, optometry, medical, veterinary, and osteopathic students, as well as graduate students in nurse anesthesia programs. Approximately 300 scholarships are offered each year. Each branch of the service has its own specific application criteria. More than 90 health care specialties are available to choose from, bringing unique subspecialties within reach. During the six-week training period, participants will receive officer’s pay as a Second Lieutenant. Upon graduation and the entry to active duty, an increase in salary will coincide with new opportunities for a broad range of residencies, fellowships and special pay incentives.
REQUIREMENTS: To be candidates for this scholarship program, individuals must either be accepted into the next entering class or be currently enrolled in an accredited institution in the United States or Puerto Rico. Candidates also must be U.S. citizens.
AWARD AMOUNT: The scholarship’s benefits include full payment of tuition and fees, reimbursement for books, equipment and supplies, 45 days of active duty with pay for each year of training and monthly stipends while not on active duty. For 10-and-a half months of each school year, a monthly stipend of $1,319.00 will be paid to each scholarship recipient. This amount is adjusted each July depending upon changes in the cost of living.

Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund
The Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund is designed to provide education assistance for post-secondary education to financially needy of those killed or permanently disabled as a result of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and during the rescue activities relating to those attacks.
REQUIREMENTS: Recipients of the fund must be dependents of the following groups: airplane crew and passengers, World Trade Center workers and visitors, Pentagon workers and visitors, and rescue workers, including firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and law enforcement personnel.
SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: The Citizens Scholarship Foundation of America has pledged that all contributions - 100% of the principal - will support undergraduate education of eligible students at accredited two-and- four-year colleges, universities or technical-vocational schools based in the United States. The program will extend to currently enrolled undergraduate students, as well as future students. The Fund is expected to continue through the year 2030.

John Keys Scholarship Fund
The John Keys Scholarship Fund provides educational assistance grants to honorably discharged U.S. Armed Services veterans who are legal residents of Kentucky and to members of the Son of The American Legion. The John Keys Scholarship was established in 1988 and has awarded more than 60 scholarship grants since 1995. The scholarship is named in honor of John H. Keys of Covington, Kentucky, a Korean War veteran and American Legion member who died of cancer in 1990.
REQUIREMENTS : One of the following requirements must be met: (1) Any honorable discharged veteran of the United States Armed Forces, without consideration for period of length of service, who is a legal resident of the Commonwealth of Kentucky OR (2) Any member of the Kentucky Sons of The American Legion, whose dues for the current membership year are paid.

Lansing/Norton's Healthcare Scholarships
As a Bellarmine University student you are a member of one of the most prestigious academic institutions in the state of Kentucky. You also have an opportunity to take part in one of our most elite programs – The Norton Healthcare Foundation Lansing Scholars Program.
Another program involved through Norton Healthcare is the Norton Healthcare Scholars Program. In partnership with public and private Kentucky and Southern Indiana colleges and universities, Norton Healthcare Scholars Program is a financial assistance program that provides educational funding to students interested in pursuing certain types of health care careers. In addition to tuition and eligible expense reimbursement, this innovative program creates work and mentoring opportunities in your chosen career field. Upon graduation, you begin your career with Norton Healthcare and your loan is eligible to be forgiven.
REQUIREMENTS: For the Lansing Scholarship, the student must be a full-time Bellarmine student in Clinical Laboratory Science, Nursing, and Respiratory Therapy. Oncology Nursing Foundation
The Oncology Nursing Foundation provides scholarships to registered nurses who are interested in and committed to oncology nursing to continue their education by pursuing a master’s degree in nursing.

- The applicant must be currently enrolled in, accepted to, or have applied to a master’s degree program at an accredited institution in the 2025-2026 academic year (starting fall 2025.

U.S. Army Reserve Nursing Program
The U.S. Army Reserve Nursing program provides eligible individuals the means to obtain a BSN, become a registered nurse (RN) and accept a commission as an officer in the U.S. Army.
REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be a junior or senior nursing student enrolled full-time in a BSN program, have a minimum GPA of 3.2 (waiverable), have no less than six months or no more than 24 months until BSN completion, be a U.S. citizen and meet the moral and physical qualifications to become an Army Officer. Juniors who enroll in the program will serve in an army hospital for five years and seniors who enroll will serve in an army hospital for four years.
AWARD AMOUNT: The program offers a $10,000 bonus, $5,000 upon acceptance of enrollment documents, $5,000 at the start of senior year for students in the program for two years or upon graduation for students in the program of one year, a monthly stipend of $1,000.

As of 2019, the CDC reported that over 1.7 million people faced an ongoing struggle with cancer.
