Psychiatric Mental Health NP Certificate
Advance Your Career with Bellarmine's PMHNP Certificate
Program Overview
The Post-Master’s Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Certificate is designed for registered nurses who already hold a Master of Science in Nursing in another area of concentration and want to expand their expertise in psychiatric mental health care. The program prepares advanced practice nurses to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions across diverse healthcare settings while developing strong clinical judgment and patient-centered care skills.
The certificate is completed over four semesters and includes 20 credit hours and 810 supervised practicum hours. Coursework focuses on psychiatric disease management, advanced psychotherapy techniques, and evidence-based treatment approaches, delivered through flexible remote and asynchronous learning. Before beginning clinical placements, students participate in an in-person intensive session that uses simulation and assessment training to prepare them for practicum experiences.
